Material Storage

Definitions

Material: are aircraft components, standard parts, expendable and raw materials
Transportation: is any change in location
Material complex store: is warehouse that is not assigned to specific production unit
A Satellite warehouse: Contain (line and base tools, chemical, tires airbus 320/321/330,
condemned and unserviceable stores)
A bench stock: this is for daily work production.

Storage and warehouse requirement

storage requirements:

  • Materials are packed and stored at all times in such away that
    (cannot be damaged, any applicable internal requirements)
  • warehouse personnel must be trained
  • work safety and environmental protection regulations
  • storing without a specified shelf life
  • materials with a limited shelf life which must be identified
  • materials are to be protected against unauthorized access
  • serviceable materials are to be stored separately
  • In the event of damage materials are to be forward to the receiving inspection for a decision.
  • loss of materials has to be recorded

warehousing requirements:
The manager is responsible to check the following requirements:

  • Stock rooms are identified alphabetically
  • Storage units are identified numerically
  • Bays used to store bulks
  • Rack storage is used for storage of large& odd shaped item
  • Pallet storage is used normally to store bulks
  • Aisles& lateral are widely enough for accessibility.
  • Office space exists& sufficient record files promotes the efficient operation
    in minimum amount of space
  • The breakdown of the warehouse is clearly & accurately identified.
Main warehouse and satellite warehouse:
- Batch Storage
- First In First Out (FIFO)

Storage during production
The following conditions are to be met:
- quantities of materials are to be kept for actual maintenance events
- excess material is to be returned to the main warehouse

Storing by subcontracting
In case of materials to be stored for others EGYPTAIR it should be adhered to its storage and warehousing requirements.
 

Materials classification
EGYPTAIR classifies its materials into 5 categories which are:

  1. batch numbered parts
    These materials are received in blot with batch number.
  2. shelf life time and life limited item
    The warehouse department is responsible for setting up tracking system for these materials.
  3. no shelf life time
    The warehouse is responsible for storing these parts in a good way that makes
    it easy to trace.
  4. non-serialized items
    The warehouse is responsible for storing these parts in manner which makes their origin always traced in correct way.
  5. serialized items
    The warehouse is responsible for storing these parts according to their serial numbers.

Identification and tagging during use
All EGYPTAIR MAINTENANCE & ENGINEERING directorates are responsible to Identify:

  • Each serviceable item.
  • Each unserviceable item.
  • Units which are determined to be beyond economical repair.
  • Scrapped parts.
  • The removed serviceable parts
